Your Autumn Checklist

Set Yourself Up for a Strong 2025 Finish

Summary: Autumn is the perfect reset. A fresh chance to declutter, refocus, and make the most of the year’s final stretch. This checklist will help you finish 2025 with clarity, energy, and momentum.

Welcome back! I hope you have had a great summer and are ready to dive into the last few months of 2025.

For me, September always feels like a bit of a fresh start. I find this season refreshing and energising. Like that new school year feeling - fresh notebooks, sharpened pencils, and lots of possibility. It's time to tidy my office, buy a nice new pen, and re-focus on what really matters.

A moment to reset and refocus as we are entering the final stretch of the year.

If summer was a pause, autumn is the push forward. The perfect time to revisit priorities and make sure we’re set up well for the months ahead.

We’ve put together a practical checklist to help you do just that.

I hope you find this useful!

Your Autumn Reset Checklist

The shift into autumn is a natural moment to pause and take stock. The months ahead can feel short, yet they hold plenty of opportunity if we use them with intention.

A simple reset now can help you finish the year with focus rather than fatigue. Think of it as your back-to-school moment for work and life: a chance to clear the decks, realign priorities, and set yourself up for a productive and purposeful final stretch.

Your Environment

Our surroundings influence how we think and feel more than we often admit. A cluttered desk or chaotic office can quietly drain energy, while a tidy space can make us sharper and lighter.

  • Is your workspace helping you perform at your best?

  • What can you change to improve it?

  • Block two hours for a declutter. Small investment, big impact!

Your Priorities
It’s easy to set goals in January and then lose sight of them in the daily grind. If that sounds familiar, September is the perfect checkpoint because there's still a meaningful stretch of the year left to make progress.

  • Revisit your annual goals. Which ones have you already ticked off the to-do list? Which ones have changed or shifted? Are there any that are no longer relevant and can come off the list entirely?

  • Which need urgent attention? What milestones can you realistically still achieve in the next 90 days?

  • Identify potential pitfalls. What could derail your progress? What can you do to ensure you stay on track?

  • Don’t forget personal priorities. What at home or outside work needs your attention?

Your Relationships

Work and life are built on relationships, yet these often slip down the to-do list. Take a moment to pause and take stock of the people in your orbit.

  • Which relationships matter most right now? At work? At home? And why?

  • What’s one small step you could take to nurture and strengthen them?

  • Who else would you like to connect with or bring a little closer?  And how will you take the first step?

Your Learning

The world of work is shifting fast. AI is the obvious headline-grabber, but every profession has its own curve of change. Now is a good time to ask yourself: where does my skillset need updating?

  • Which new tools, technologies, or ideas are reshaping or disrupting your field?

  • Are there skills you’ve been meaning to build but keep postponing?

  • What’s one concrete step you could take now - whether that’s a short course, a stretch project, or even just setting aside time to explore?

Your Career

Beyond the day-to-day, there’s the bigger picture. Where do you want to be heading in your career, and what groundwork can you lay before the year closes?

  • Zoom out. Beyond the next few months, what would accelerate your career progression?

  • Is there a skill you need to develop, a project to take on, or a conversation to start before year end?

  • What might you regret not doing now?

Small resets like these add up!

By tending to your environment, priorities, relationships, career, and learning, you give yourself - and those around you - the best chance of ending the year with energy and focus.

It's not too late!  There is still enough time to make meaningful progress.

What’s the first step you will take to get off to a successful (re)start?
